It Took a Village to Save This L.A. River Dog and then we learned how he got there 😧
In the video, I forgot to mention that Lino was shot and had a pellet removed from his leg! This dog has been through A LOT, his life was in immediate danger as a big storm was approaching Los Angeles, but with help from a few amazing people who called Hope For Paws, organized volunteers to help me, and donors who make it all happen, we managed to turn his life story around!
Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday season, and a generous donor offered to match up to $100,000 of your donations for medical care for the animals. Lino survived because someone donated last week. If you do the same, you’ll help me save the next one waiting tonight:
Lino's story teaches an important lesson. A Good Samaritan with real good intentions rescued him, took him to the vet, had a BB-gun pellet removed from his leg, she got him neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. She then found someone was wanted to adopt him, and just handed him over without any screening, no paperwork, and sure enough, when Lino somehow got away from them, they didn't even call her to let her know he was missing. In fact, they completely ghosted her once they had him in their possession and wouldn't provide any updates.
The microchip number led me to the clinic that treated him, the number for the Good Samaritan was off by a digit, but we managed to figure it out through some investigative work. The Good Samaritan was upset about the turn of events but was very grateful for our offer to help him find the perfect home.
Thank you so much for being a part of my team!
Happy Thanksgiving,
Eldad
