Russell has that BDE! He’s a 2-year-old, 18 lb. scruffy terrier and the life of the party. He’s a lot of dog in a small package, but 🤫 please don’t tell him he’s short. This scruffy little teddy bear is one of the most affectionate dogs you’ll ever meet, and we’re pretty sure he’ll win any popularity contest he enters.

Russell and his brother Colter were once part of a five-dog pack living with a homeless man. The two brothers were abandoned in a parking lot, while the man and the other three dogs disappeared. Colter has since been adopted, and now it’s Russell’s turn to find his forever home.

Russell is full of life, personality, and spunky energy. He loves adventure, plays fetch, walks great on a leash, and has done extremely well with a variety of dogs. He also pays close attention to his person, looking you right in the eyes for his cue on what to do. He may be small, but he’s compact and sturdy and feels more like a medium-sized dog in a little dog body.

When Russell first arrived, he had that “free spirit” energy, but as he’s settled into the “housed” life and we’ve gotten to know him better, we’ve learned exactly what will help him thrive. He needs a human who is calm, cool, and collected, someone who enjoys his enthusiasm and is more likely to roll their eyes and laugh than stress out when he gets a little too excited. If you’re a fun extrovert, Russell will happily keep up with you. If you need a little help becoming one, Russell is your guy!

Russell could thrive as your one and only or as part of a dynamic duo with another playful, active dog who needs a buddy. If you’re looking for an affectionate, adventurous, larger-than-life personality in a scruffy 18 lb. package, you’re going to love Russell and be very thankful you adopted him. ❤️
