Please join us in welcoming a very special addition to our Hope for Paws family, Tator Tot. This little potato is truly a miracle. He was rescued by JoAnn Wiltz from a yard where he was found listless because a pellet had penetrated his spine.
He was unable to urinate and was practically paralyzed. A CT scan showed promise and with the expertise of Dr. Pedraza and Smart Approach Vet we were able to remove the foreign material from the spine surgically.
Tator Tot showed such a strong desire to get better and with the love and support of our medical staff who provided hours of physical therapy and motivational support, Tator Tot improved enough to leave the hospital and continue his care with our friends at Cats at the Studios and the support of his foster mom Lisa and his foster brother Leo Beans.
Tator Tot is now ready for his furever home! He has improved tremendously and more than we ever imagined possible, although he may never be able to climb the tallest cat tree, and running, jumping and playing still can be a little tricky at times. His biggest challenge continues to be using the litter box, as the trauma to his spinal cord has caused him to require a permanent urinary diet and poses challenges for him to actually make it in the box, although the addition of pads is very helpful. As a result, he will be a special needs kitty and will require an understanding owner, with preferably no carpet, who can adjust to his specific needs.
